“I never set out to conquer everything in a day, week or month. Instead, I make a commitment to myself that I will make progress towards my end-goal each day — no matter how small.” Dawn Strobel
Every year many us of make NY resolutions. 365 days ago, also wrote about one simple strategy that I decided to apply when making such projects. As a result, I wanted to share what has happened what worked and what did not. What I did at the time was simple. It was “installing” a filter of doing things that I want and not doing things that I do not want.
As simple as it sounds, trust me, it is not easy to stop doing things you do not want to do. To start, it is not easy to understand what are the things you do not want. I must admit, that The Chimp Paradox was not only a book, but a tool that helped me understand what I do not want. The next stage, in the process of not doing things that we don’t do is to deracinate the unwanted habits we have. This is a great challenge to have. What helped me along the way is reading The power of habit. To sum up at first, it was challenging not to do what I do not want to under social pressure.
To put it in simple words — I felt relieved. Similarly, understood that nothing bad happens when you ask your friends to grab a cup of coffee instead of a beer. Also, found out that you can generate the same social value in a healthier context. These are facts that I have experimentally proven. The second treasure that I found was that FOCUS is big. The things I had decided to focus were the ones that really mattered in the corporate job, family, health and my impact on the internet.
As a result, I achieved remarkable success in the four aforementioned areas. At work, helped a large regional bank to go entirely digital and achieve remarkable cultural shift. Our family has expanded in 2019. In the health aspect – lost some weight, worked on having the right diet and did a half marathon with 670m of elevation. On that blog I wrote 21 396 words in 31 posts and welcomed 105% more visitors than in 2018. To some up, in both business and life there is one strategy that works. It is simple and effective. It consists in choosing what NOT to do, FOCUSING in what you DO and having the right measurements on the way.
