This is post is unusual. It was inspired by a Dubai Lessons podcast. The podcast was recorded with a remarkable financier and friend of mine Mr. Nigel Pope. Sitting in a really pleasant cafe on Jumeirah Beach Nigel explains the importance of mind management to successfully invest in publicly listed companies. He gives away few lessons from his book. Next together we go to discuss how things have evolved on the financial markets over the last 25-30 years. Nigel, also practically points out the mindset shift that is currently occurring in the financial services sector. We point out some of its fundamental drivers. These include regulation, technology advancement and many more. Challenger banks and their profitability also come in the conversation. Nigel explains, what FX problems SMEs often have. We also talk about 55EastFX that can solve many of them. Above all, 55eastFX embodies innovative cost efficient FX technology with old school reliable customer service.

This is the happy face of Nigel when we did the record.

The mindset part

There are a couple mindset shift examples that are very well demonstrated ( even the accent and tone of voice). As a result, we point out the importance of embracing change and constantly learning new better ways of doing things. The conversation also evolves around digitization of everything around us including finance. Here you can find a very good presentation about the future consumers of financial services and what they expect from a bank. The shift of jobs in the sector is also discussed. This publication by efinancialcareers quite accurately predicted what is about to happen. Trying to predict the future is not our strong point. Nonetheless, we also point out what are main trends visible today. Examples we use include trade automation in FX as well as AI. Great conversation that you can listen to on the link here. Also, please share your thoughts and reach out with comments and ideas.

Here is the podcast. Happy listening.
